All the novellas in flash shortlisted in the 2022 Bath Novella in Flash Award are excellent and varied in subject matter and style, and we’re delighted that our short short fiction publisher, Ad Hoc Fiction, is able to publish the full set again and all the authors have agreed to publication which is likely to be at some point this year,or early next year. Finnian Burnett who wrote The Clothes Make The Man teaches undergrad English, British and American Literature, and creative writing. They are a doctoral student in English Pedagogy, a novelist, and a flash fiction writer. Finn’s work has been shortlisted or won in the Bath Flash Fiction Award, Blank Spaces Magazine, National Flash Fiction Day, Retreat West, Globe Soup, and more. Their work has appeared in Reflex Press, Ekphrastic Reviewtrong, Fenacular Portfolio, The Daily Science Fiction, and Free Flash Fiction. Finn lives in British Columbia with their wife and Lord Gordo, the cat.
Sheree Shatsky who wrote Summer 1969 writes wild words. Her work has appeared in a variety of journals including Twin Pies Lit, Red Fez, Revolution John, Cowboy Jamboree, Wraparound South, Fictive Dream, Ellipsis Zine, Bending Genres, New Flash Fiction Review, KYSO Flash, Saw Palm: Florida Noir, BLACKCACKLE at Entropy, X-R-A-Y Literary Magazine and others. Ms. Shatsky attended the University of Iowa Writers Workshop summer session 2021 and was selected by the AWP Writer to Writer Mentorship Program as a Spring 2018 mentee for flash fiction. Her microfiction was nominated for Best Microfiction 2022 (Splonk Flash) and Best Microfiction 2020 Fictive Dream and MoonPark Review). Her writing was longlisted in the Retreat West Novelette-in-Flash Prize 2022. Sheree calls Florida home and is a Tom Petty fan. Jeanette Lowe who wrote Pixie Lore was born in Dorset and now resident in Sheffield, is a former journalist and special needs teacher who is now devoting her time to writing fiction. Jeanette has a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing (distinction) from the University of Sheffield, and writes short stories and flash fictions, which have been published by Writers Magazine, Brittle Star, Flash500 and Dorset Voices. Her flashes have also appeared in two Bath Flash Fiction Anthologies. Her first novella-in-flash, Let the demons tiptoe, won second prize in the inaugural National Flash Fiction Day novella-in-flash competition (2021). She is currently working on her first novel.
